Mencia's typical lighter-bodied style, with notes of boysenberry and clove dancing with savory earth and graphite. Ends with a long, dry finish. A wonderful pairing with hearty foods.
Mencia was originally brought to Spain by French pilgrims in the Middle Ages. Long thought to be a clone of Cab Franc, recent DNA testing has proven it to be its own varietal. Alvaro Palacios broke away from his family's famed Rioja winery to explore and revive Mencia in Bierzo in northwest Spain.
